水果

shuǐ guǒPinyin

fruit

noun

A common noun referring to edible botanical fruits. Due to the proximity of two third tones, the first syllable '水' is modulated phonetically into a second tone (shuǐ -> shuí) while '果' maintains its low falling-rising contour.
